As a long-term champion of access to finance for small businesses, ART welcomes the launch of two projects funded by the RGF (Regional Growth Fund) – the Birmingham Post Business Growth Fund and the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) – both of which are aimed at stimulating the economy and are available to businesses operating in Birmingham and Solihull.
The Birmingham Post Business Growth Fund is an ambitious joint venture between the weekly business newspaper and Bournville College, which will offer grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 to support the creation of long-term jobs ‘of value’. The scheme will run for two years with the main objectives being job creation and assisting businesses to develop the skills they need to reap the full benefit of the investment they receive. Priority will be given to businesses in the creative, digital, advanced manufacturing, business and professional services and care sectors. They will need to provide match funding.
The Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) is a national scheme, which aims to create more competitive supply chains, new employment opportunities, better synergies and sustained collaborative relationships throughout supply chains. Birmingham City Council is overseeing a competition to award a share of the money locally. Stream One of the competition is for projects seeking to make a sectoral- level impact to create world class excellence in supply chains and require a minimum of £2,000,000 of support to proceed. Stream Two of the competition is for projects that require a minimum of £200,000 of support being undertaken by organisations operating as part of an aerospace or automotive supply chain.
